MYWAY launches first music subscription service in Portugal
To PC, MAC and MOBILE
Since September, Waymedia offers a subscription service for the website myway.pt. The site users have at their disposal two subscription packs: Premium and Light. The Premium package allows, for € 9.99 per month, unlimited access to millions of songs, download up to 2,000 songs per month, access to the MYWAY Mobile and building playlist-on-demand. The Light package, which costs € 2.99 per month, gives access to the same benefits that the service Free but without the advertisements.
"The future of the music industry involves the consolidation of platforms like myway.pt, in which users can access music in a way which is advantageous for both publishers and subscribers," explains Carlos Marques, Waymedia’s General Manager. "We are confident that the public will recognize the benefits of our subscription service and are prepared to increasingly improve our offering with complementary services."
Waymedia expects to have found a way to combat piracy with this format. The music industry has been losing profits due to the proliferation of online piracy with a drop of 66% in the income from the sales of music in material format between 2000 and 2008. During this period, the income fell from 106 million to 36 million Euros and it’s far from being compensated by the online sales..
